The properties of villagers of Tulagam, Padali and Krishnapuram, were taken by the Government for the construction of a dam and made appropriate measures to relocate them to the Vamsadhara colonies. Local authorities have given permission for cultivation on the seized lands as the construction of the project has been delayed.

The History of Hiramandalam

But due to the failure of the concerned authorities to protect the acquired lands and other assets, and the delay in the construction of the dam, the villagers are now seeking additional compensation under the Land Acquisition Act - 2013 as the agricultural fields became barren lands due to authorities negligence. As the people here asked for more compensation they were filed with cases against the women involved in the controversy. The second phase of the Vamsadhara reservoir was still not completed and the people here are urging the existing Jagan Mohan Reddy Government to complete the project and convert more barren lands to green fields. The project cost was initially Rs. 953 crores and the delay in the increased cost was Rs. 1618 crores as of now. The water dispute with Odisha should be resolved quickly and the second phase works of the genealogy should be completed expeditiously. The wasted Vamsadhara reservoir waters should be fully utilized.
