The Story of Jalumuru

Jalumuru is an important zone in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. It is 25 km from the nearest town, Amadavalasa. According to the 2011 Indian Census, the zone has a population of 59,599 with 15,719 households. The number of males in the village is 29413 and the number of females is 30186. The number of scheduled castes is 4589 while the number of scheduled tribes is 391. Jalumuru has no Health Care Centers and patients have to travel several kilometers to meet good Doctors for better treatments.

Unemployment is very high in this area. Government has to take required measures to create more jobs for the local youth and stop the migration. Housing is a big problem in this area so at least the present Government has to allocate some Government lands for house constructions. Srimukhalingam temple is a famous temple that is present in this Jalumuru area and devotees from different parts of the world reach here. So the present Government should take all the required measures in developing this prominent spiritual center. A tourism network should be set up along with the sights in the district.

About Us

Sri Mukhalingeswara temple is located in a small village Mukhalingam in Jalumuru mandal, which is located at a distance of about 50 km from Srikakulam head quarters. This Mukhalingeswara temple was built by Kamarnava–II in 8th century AD of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty. Every year famous Chakratirtha snanam (holy bath) is taken by pilgrims. Lakhs of pilgrims visit this Mukhalingeswara temple from Odisha and Andhra Pradesh on the auspicious day to take the holy bath and take blessings of Lord Shiva.

About Us

The Subramanya temple is an ancient Hindu temple that is surrounded by scenic natural beauty. It is located in Jalumuru town, Srikakulam district, Andhra Pradesh. The temple contains the pictures of Adi Sesha and Vasuki along with the lord Subramanya. Lord Subramanya, being the chief deity is found to be sitting gracefully on a peacock in the Sanctum. The main idol of the temple, that of Lord Karthikeya faces towards the east. This is to reflect the rising of the sun.
