Pathapatnam is the most important constituency in Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh sharing most of its boundaries with Parlakhemundi in Odisha. It is located close to the Mahendratanaya River and is surrounded by lush green forests and hills. Pathapatnam is connected to the Naupada - Gunupur railway line.

If the present government takes action to utilise the Mahendratanaya waters fully, then it can help the farmers in Pathapatnam to do irrigation. Mahendra waters stopped due to Dambapur Dam.
